Eternal Serenity

Poem :

Living one day at a time enjoying the depth and calmness,
Every heart longs for a life filled with amity and peace,
The heart has found its vast realm to roam,
let the gift of eternal serenity prevail for eternity.

Beneath the sky, so soft, so wide,
A gentle horse rests by the side.
His mane flows still, his eyes closed tight,
Embraced by peace, in soft twilight.

The world moves on, but he remains,
In quiet grace, no earthly pains.
His steady breath, a calm embrace,
Eternal serenity fills this space.

The fields stretch far, the air is clear,
A silence deep, a world sincere.
The earth beneath, the sky above,
A horse at rest, in peaceful love.

No rush to chase, no race to win,
In this still moment, all is kin.
The steady rhythm of his heart,
A symphony of peace to start.

Through every storm, through every day,
The horse has found his gentle way.
In resting, still, he feels the flow,
Of serenity’s soft, quiet glow.

Eternal peace in every stride,
The horse at rest, with time as guide.
In silence pure, he finds his place,
A soul at rest in nature’s grace.

Description

A life without freedom is not a life worth living. The significance of freedom and its amity with serenity has always been a subject of admiration for authors across works of literature. Rosalind’s piece Eternal Serenity is an impactful epitome of an individual’s thirst for freedom and peace. At first glance at this piece, it seems to portray a horse. But, the reality behind the aesthetic remains open to interpretation. Besides, the intricate color play with various intermixing of bold colors gives life to this oil painting and shares the abstract concept with everyone.

The overlapping of bold blues, reds, and blacks births beautiful shades and depicts depth. A depth that knows no bounds. Just like freedom. A state of euphoria where we can leave this tumultuous world and find solace. The background is a simple, yet beautiful stroke of both light and deep greens combined with a blend of bluish, a beautiful representation of serenity. In a simpler analysis, the horse seems to be free, with his eyes as bright as the burning sun, although the animal is ephemeral. Life is limited and the animal being aware of it rushes through the wind in the bountiful green under the blue sky. It begs the question, “Why do we let our life pass by?”.

A critical analysis of Rosalind’s piece would reveal the delicate hues at play here. The horse in its entirety shapes an individual’s life. The touch of bright red and oranges including the burning red shade depict the childhood and young age where an individual lives their best life. The black corners beautifully portray the melancholic phases of one’s life. The amalgamation of colors forms a pitch-black void. It is a portrayal of an individual bound by their thoughts, yearning to break the shackles and be truly at peace with life.

The quote “Every cloud has a silver lining” has found a place in this scenario. An individual may find themselves perplexed and in the face of great adversities, however, just like the majestic horse, should run forward.

Rosalind has created a mirror in a true sense. Among the daily hubbub of life, we lose ourselves completely. Physical and mental strains bind us to a very monotonous world. As our body seeks rest, our mind does too. Hence, we remain devoid of serenity.  However, the peace we think is lost is an illusion. With the right motivation and approach toward life, one can easily be at peace with themselves. The white silhouettes in this oil painting symbolize the aged and senescent phase of life. With years passing by, we fade into the light. However, throughout the journey, we run through different fields that teach us new lessons as we approach the final destination of our lives.

Rosalind’s use of an animal to portray the irony is ingenious. She has used her painting to mock our neglect of life. We are approaching a materialistic life and are gradually forsaking our peace and serenity for worldly pleasures.
